Muse have added eight European arena dates to The Wow! Signal tour, extending the run into January. Lisbon, Bordeaux, Lyon, Madrid and Valencia are on the new itinerary, with two-night stops in three cities. The announcement gives fans another chance to see the band as its latest album moves from the studio into a longer live run.

The new leg runs through Portugal, France and Spain

The January schedule opens in Lisbon on the 10th. Bordeaux follows on the 12th and 13th, then Lyon on the 16th and 17th. Madrid's Movistar Arena will host the band on the 19th and 20th, before the leg reaches Valencia on the 23rd.

General ticket sales are scheduled for October 8 at 9am local time, with a registered-fan presale beginning October 6 at 9am local time. Fans planning a trip should check the relevant venue and ticket outlet, since a local-time sale can mean a different clock time for someone buying from abroad.

Two nights offer options, not a promised second setlist

Repeat dates can make travel planning easier, particularly when one night sells quickly. They should not be read as a guarantee that the band will play completely different songs each evening. The announcement establishes the dates; the shape of those performances will become clearer as the tour progresses.

The Wow! Signal gets more room on stage

Released in June, The Wow! Signal is the tenth studio album by Muse. The new dates create space for that record within a catalogue that already spans several distinct phases of the band's career. There is no confirmed January setlist in the announcement, so predictions about particular songs remain just that.

The expansion also fits a busy period for established live bands, including U2's return to stadium-tour rehearsals. For fans choosing between several concert trips, the ticket is only one part of the budget.

Transport and accommodation deserve attention before checkout, an issue explored in our look at the changing logistics of touring. Muse's eight new dates offer welcome choices; picking the right city and checking the full cost can make that choice much simpler.
